How Bed Bugs Travel

Summer is here and bed bugs are looking for new homes and they are not too fussy as to which neighbourhood you live in when they decide to come to your house.  They will settle into any neighbourhood.  Just this week, I have delivered to Little Italy, the Bridlepath, India Bazaar, the Junction and Peanut Plaza.  Sometimes, my customers have an idea where the bugs came from, but often, they are simply too shocked to even imagine how the bed bugs travelled into their homes.

Yesterday, a customer called to say the cable guy had just left after making a repair and she found two adult bugs in her living room.  If she hadn’t connected the two events, a few weeks from now, she would be wondering how the bed bugs travelled into her apartment.

With the warm weather, bed bugs are secretly latching onto your pants, shoes and bags and moving house.  They might fall off in your car or on the TTC and hitch a ride to their new home. You could have gone for a routine test in the hospital or simply taken a book out of the library.  Sometimes, there is no way of knowing what mode of transport the bed bugs took to travel into your life.

However they got to you, it’s time to zap them with a heat treatment by renting a bed bug heater.
