Do Bed Bugs Bite Pets
Do Bed Bugs Bite Dogs and Cats?
You would think that if a bed bug likes blood, it would love your dog as much as you but that is usually not the case unless you have a Chinese Crested Hairless Dog as a pet. Although bed bugs like blood, they don’t like hair, especially hairy dogs and cats, so you can sleep tight knowing your pet is safe.
Fleas, on the other hand, like hairy dogs so they can hide in those hard-to-reach spots near the top of the tail. Fleas generally will not bite humans as long as there is a dog or cat around. If you remove the pet, the flea will bite you and then go and lay more eggs.
A flea bite is usually found around your ankles and calves as they live in the carpet and jump up and bite you. Flea bites will be scattered around your lower legs, whereas bed bugs will bite anywhere on your body, usually in a cluster or three or four.
No matter what is biting you, every insect has a thermal death temperature – temperature at which they will die. For bed bugs and fleas, that temperature is 45C. We are happy to answer any of your question about fleas and bed bugs.
