It can be hard to find a bed bug, but generally bed bugs are hiding within 1 or 2 meters of where you sleep or lounge. They are notorious for burrowing and squeezing into the smallest of spaces to hide from you. Along with the usual hiding places around the bed, bed bugs will hide in your outlets, behind picture frames, in the air vents, and curtains.
In the early stages of infestation, the bed bugs are found around your mattress so they can feed on human blood at night. As the infestation progresses, they spread out and move into and under other surfaces. It is the female who will start moving further away from your bed as she tries to escape the male. At this point, you may see signs of black spots on your walls or even see them crawling up the walls.
When searching for bed bug hiding places, it is important to look inside and underneath every surface and crevice like the cracks in around your baseboards, the wall outlets and any little nick in the wall or wallpaper. Bed bugs love to hide in dark, secluded places.
