Bed Bugs Dead in 10 Seconds
Customers often ask me “Does our bed bug heat treatment really work?” I’d like to share the story of one of my customers, Terri.
Terri called me and was excited that she had found our bed bug heater rental service after having battled bed bugs for months with sprays and powders. Based on the information Terri provided us, we determined which equipment would best suit her home and electrical power supply. After reading our Preparation Checklist, she was ready to go on a marathon bug killing expedition in her four-bedroom home. At the time of pick up, we explained how to operate the equipment, loaded it into her little car and she was on her way.
A few hours later, I received a call from Terri to say that she had completed set up and was just about finished heating the first room. At this point, she had found some dead bugs on the floor but was curious about how long it took for them to die now that the room was around 50C. Terri decided to take a couple of live bugs from one of the other bedrooms and place it inside the room she was treating.
Terri stood inside the 50C room a released the few bugs onto the mattress and watched as they wandered around in a circle for about ten seconds before they just stopped moving completely. Dead in 10 seconds! Needless to say, Terri was excited. All the research shows that the bugs die in seconds at temperatures above 45C but to see it in action is proof positive. It is not often that people share my passion for dead bugs, so I too was excited when Terri called with the good news.
I have not heard from Terri since that day, which in my business is a good thing. In fact, I tell my customers that I hope I never see them again. I may not hear from my customers again, but I do meet the friends they have referred to Bed Bugs Dead Bugs.
