Bed Bugs + Alcohol = Danger
Bed Bugs + Rubbing Alcohol + Fire = Danger
Rubbing Alcohol is simply not a solution to bed bugs. While it might seem like a good idea to dry out the bed bugs, it is not a lasting solution as there is no residual effect and does not kill the eggs. Of even greater concern is that alcohol is flammable. One of the most dangerous things you can do is start spraying yourself and your furniture with alcohol to get rid of bed bugs. The results can be deadly.
Recently, a Detroit man burned his apartment and himself while trying to fight bed bugs. After spraying himself and his sofa, the man lit a cigarette, setting himself on fire. Luckily, he escaped the fire but suffered serious burns to himself and damage to the apartment. A Cincinnati woman who was attempting to kill bed bugs using rubbing alcohol caused a fire that injured three and left 10 homeless.
